The MA-10 altimeter is designed for high altitude 40,000' (12,000 meters) dual scale military operation. The single revolution eliminates altitude confusion while maintaining the traditional Altimaster face below 8000'.
Unlike other military altimeters where you had to choose a either 1 revolution 30,000' face, or a 2 1/2 revolution 12,000' face, the MA-10 is designed to be both. This is especially helpful for HALO night jumps because the jumper does not have to keep an eye on the needle as he would for a 2 1/2 revolution 12,000' face if he cannot see the ground. It also eliminates confusion for jumpers normally used to a 12,000' face but accidentally pulling at what they believe is 3000' while using a 30,000' face, when in actuality they are at 7500'.
For training purposes the instrument has a simple zero function. For operational use the DZ altitude and barometric pressure may be preset, and the MA-10 will display the correct AGL altitude above the DZ.
The unit is based on a stepper motor design and is extremely robust, dropping the instrument will not damage the mechanism. Since the scale is controlled by the embedded software, the user can specify the scale design when placing an order (there is a minimum order quantity for customized dial faces).
The embedded software is updateable.
The altimeter is tested and certified to be waterproof to a maximum depth of 6 feet for one hour.
Operational temperature range is -40 to +80 degrees Celsius.
This altimeter has a white face, black numbers, with yellow and red warning sector, and reads in feet or meters.
Usable to 40,000 feet or 12,000 meters MSL.
The pointer turns 30,000 feet per revolution (1 revolution to 30,000 feet).
It incorporates an Electro luminescent faceplate to provide an even background illumination of the dial.
The MA-10 has a robust aluminum frame, easily accessible batteries (Type AA), and comes with a one piece wrist strap which requires no tools to change.
Available in Feet or Meters.
The weight is within 1 oz. of the original MA2-30 altimeter design.
