HEL-STAR 6 Gen III is the latest in a series of purpose-built lights designed specifically for headgear-mounting for airborne, MFF, and ground operations.
HEL-STAR 6 Gen III combines features of the earlier HEL-STAR 4® & HEL-STAR 5® models into a compact, one-piece design with enhanced visibility and easy battery replacement. Various models are available providing two, three, or four user-defined functions in virtually any combination of white, green, blue, red, and IR - either flashing or steady. Variable flash rates and coded signals are available for enhanced IFF capability.
HEL-STAR 6 Gen III Advantages
Safety - VELCRO® Brand tape attachment provides emergency peel-away from headgear to reduce potential for injury.
Versatility - Depending on the model, up to four user-defined operating functions in a range of visible colors and IR signals - either flashing or steady.
Visibility - Enhanced side, top and bottom visibility. Intensity in any mode can be adjusted up or down for special requirements. Meets FAA visibility requirement.
Simple Operation - Detented sliding switches are designed for operation by a gloved-hand, in the blind, with the headgear donned.
Operational Security - Some models can be configured with separate visible and covert operating modes to prevent possibility of inadvertent visible light emission in secure operations.
Operating Extremes - Powered by a standard lithium CR123 photo cell for long life and extreme temperature operation. Waterproof and dustproof.
Status Confirmation - Positive visual and tactile confirmation of ON/OFF and operating status with no guesswork. Helps prevent inadvertent battery depletion if left ON in IR mode.
Easy Battery Replacement - The battery can be replaced in the field, quickly, without tools.
The Static Nose Plug version, Model 620, is used when the user wants the light setting to be completely secured as either Overt or Covert. For the light setting function to be switched from A to B the Static Nose Plug needs to be removed, turned 180 degrees and put back in.
Model 620: Two Modes of Operation, Two Functions in each mode. Main Switch: “0” = OFF, “1” – Function 1, “2” = Function 2. Nose Plug: p = Mode A, q = Mode B.
The Sliding Nose Switch version, Model 640, is used when the user wants the light setting to be more easily set as Overt or Covert. For the light setting function to be switched from A to B the Sliding Nose Switch is simply pushed out.
Model 640: Two Modes of Operation, Two Functions in each mode. Main Switch: “0” = OFF, “1” – Function 1, “2” = Function 2. Nose Switch: p = Mode A, q = Mode B.
