The NV's backlight incorporates an optical filter to reduce overall brightness and minimize blue and green spectrum light to preserve night vision. Additionally, NV backlights are also much dimmer than a standard backlight, making it more difficult to detect with the naked eye in night operations. This backlight appears soft greyish pink, not red, and is still in the visible spectrum, so is not compatible with night-vision equipment.

Backlit display for easy viewing and shows U.S. and metric units of measure. The Vantage Pro weather stations are for monitoring barometric pressure, temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind speed and direction. All of this information is then transmitted wirelessly and read from a digital display unit. 
This system includes the Vantage Pro console/receiver, Integrated sensor Suite (ISS), and mounting hardware. The ISS includes rain collector, temperature and humidity sensors, anemometer, 40' (12m) anemometer cable, and solar panel. Temperature and humidity sensors are enclosed in solar-powered fan-aspirated radiation shield. Shield combines active and passive aspiration to minimize the effects of radiation.
The ISS is solar powered. Transmitter and battery are located inside radiation shield. Console may be powered using the included AC-power adapter or with three C batteries (not included).
Wireless range is up to 400' (120m) outdoors, line of sight. Typical range through walls under most conditions is 75' to 150' (23m to 46m). Add wireless repeaters for distances up to 0.6 miles (1 km).

The Turbo Meter provides uncommon accuracy, sensitivity, and pocket-sized convenience. It is based on the principal that a freely turning turbine will rotate at a speed directly proportional to the wind speed. To insure maximum sensitivity and accuracy, the turbine is suspended on sapphire jewel bearings, and its rotation is sensed by an infrared light beam which adds no friction. The resulting signal is processed electronically by a LSI (Large Scale Integrated) circuit for improved reliability and reduced size. A special three digit display is used for extra resolution and provides excellent viewing contrast in bright sunlight. A handy switch selects between four different scales for unmatched versatility. Also, the totally enclosed turbine and compact size make it easy to carry, so you can always have it when you need it.
