observe a battery replacement date, record the number of jumps made, monitor the
voltage during the self-test, purchase a battery or have a rigger open or repack
the reserve for this reason. No one has to pay attention to the power supply.
Unit serial number accessible from the display.
Next maintenance due date accessible from the display.
Reminds you when the maintenance due date becomes closer.
Small and light.
Robust, rigger friendly case, rounded corners and edges.
Wide maintenance window. +/- 6 months after 4 and 8 years from
month of manufacture, no down-time, during the busy part of the year regardless
of the month of manufacture.

Self-test is completed in 10 seconds.
Changing altitude reference - same procedure but quicker to
do.
Proven Features:
Activation altitudes.
Activation velocities.
Altitude reference adjustment.
Always actual ground level by automatic compensation of
weather related air pressure changes.
User interface (Single push button).
Loop cutting system.
Cypres closing loop system.
14 hours run time.
factory integrated set-up in the rig
Usage:
After purchase, put it in your Cypres-ready container and
forget about it for 4 years*.
Then have the maintenance done and forget about it for
another 4 years*.
Then have the maintenance done again and forget about it for
another 4 years*.
*Except for switching it on at the beginning of the day, and
changing the filter after a landing in water.
Installation
- All new rigs are Cypres ready.
Since 1994 all major parachute rig manufacturers around the
world have incorporated the spandex pouch which accomodates the Cypres unit, the
plastic pocket for the control unit, and the channels for the unit cables as a
standard. These integrated installations are a co-design between the rig
manufacturers and Airtec, and are tested and approved by both.
Handling
- Set it and forget it!
The use of the Cypres does not restrict skydiving in any way.
The handling of the Cypres is extremely simple. It requires only one switch on
procedure per day done prior to the first jump of the day. Only if you have left
the dropzone, should you repeat the procedure before the next jump. That's it!
No switch-off is necessary at the end of the day. Changes in air pressure caused
by the weather are taken care of automatically. If you want to jump into a DZ of
another elevation, you can easily program this into the Cypres unit. Simply hold
the button during the switch-on procedure until you see the required altitude
difference on the display. You do not see, hear, or feel this equipment, and it
will not affect you unless you are extremely close to the ground and still in
freefall. Only then it comes into play, cutting your reserve container closing
loop, allowing your reserve to deploy. That is its only task. This little job,
though, has saves hundreds of skydiver's lives - skydiver's of all experience
levels.
Maintenance / Lifetime / Reliability
-Yes!
Based on the experience of producing 110,000 high-tech AADs
(including 31,000 Cypres 2)
and servicing them for 12 1/2 years in a way that no one has ever refused to
fire when it should, there is a maintenance necessary 4 years after production
and 8 years after production and the lifetime is 12 years.
Remember- Cypres is
strictly a backup device and is not intended to replace proper training or
timely execution of appropriate emergency procedures.
Expert Cypres
Whatever you can think of under the canopy, like stalls, spiral turns, down
planes, hookturns with the smallest canopies, as well as any CRW, Expert Cypres
won’t interfere with any activities while skydiving. It activates when it
detects a rate of descent higher than 78mph (35m/sec) at an altitude of
approximately
750ft above ground level (AGL). (Typical freefall speed in a box position is approximately
111 miles per hour).

CYPRES 2 - STUDENT ONE PIN |
Same size as the Expert 1 Pin
Cypres 2, but specifically designed for student requirements. It will activate when the rate
of descent exceeds 29mph (13m/sec). The activation altitude, however, is split.
In the case of rate of descent being equal to that of freefall, the opening
altitude is at approximately 750 ft., as with the Expert Cypres 2. However, should the rate
of descent be lower than that of freefall but still above the limit of 29 mph
(e.g. with partially opened canopy), then the Student Cypres will activate when the
altitude decreases below 1000 ft. AGL.

SPEED CYPRES 2 - ONE PIN |
Same
size as the Expert 1 Pin Cypres 2, but specifically designed for Expert Speed
requirements. It activates at approximately 750 feet AGL when vertical speed is
more than 96 miles per hour. The Speed Cypres is designed to allow very extreme
canopy piloting. The high activation speed (approx. 86 percent of freefall
speed) plus the feature that the unit ceases operation below 330 feet are
tailored for this discipline. For some activities, the Speed Cypres may not
be suitable.

Cypres 1 is powered by a battery power pack assembly that can be used for a
maximum of two years, 500 jumps, or until the self-test (via code 8998 or code
8999) that the battery needs to be replaced - whichever occurs first. In most
cases, this is two years. The two year period starts when the battery pack is
plugged into the Cypres 1. Spare battery packs may be stored in proper conditions
for up to three years prior to installation.

PACKERS KIT FOR CYPRES |
This is a package of
replacement parts that a rigger will need from time to time when packing rigs with Cypres
installations. The Cypres Packers Kit also contains everything necessary to equip
rigs with Cypres reserve container closing loop systems. The Cypres loop
material increases the safety of its user regardless if a Cypres is in the rig
or not. It does this by improving the opening performance of the reserve
container, by reducing the necessary pull force on the ripcord up to 50%, and by
reducing the risk of loop tearing. The Cypres Packers Checklist also allows for
checking every Cypres installation for its correctness.
Contents: 1 spool of Cypres loop material (50 meter), 1 finger trapping needle,
1 bottle of silicone gel, 1 container with siliconized cloth, 2 temporary pins, 5
loop discs, 1 filter changer, 3 air filter, 1 Cypres users guide, and 1 Cypres packers checklist.

CYPRES REPLACEMENT CUTTER - 1PIN |
Replacement
cutter for one pin Cypres. The Cypres has a unique method of opening the reserve
container, using a device that cuts the reserve container closing loop. It is
completely independent from the normal reserve container opening system. While a
jumper uses the reserve ripcord handle to pull the the reserve pin out of the
eye of the closing loop, the Cypres uses a cutter which cuts the closing loop
itself. This autonomous design has saved the lives of skydivers with damaged
reserve pins. After an activation, a replacement cutter can easily be plugged
in.

REPLACEMENT FILTER FOR CYPRES 2 |
The
Cypres 2 is waterproof up to 15 minutes down to a depth of 15 feet ( 5 meters).
This is achieved through a water-resistant casing, sealed plug connections, a
sealed cutter, a sealed control unit, and a special filter. The filter allows
precise measurement of the air pressure and at the same time keeps the water
away from the inside of the unit. As long as there is no contact with water, the
filter never needs to be replaced by the user.
After water contact, the filter must be removed and discarded, and the new
filter must be installed.
Each Cypres 2 comes with one spare filter and the filter changer, a stainless
steel tool to screw the old filter out and the new one in. This procedure takes
about 1 minute.
Shipping Weight: 4 oz. (110g).
