  The
MC-5 System (NSN 1670-10-367-0304) combines the operationally proven features of
the popular Iterim Ram Air Parachute (IRAPS) Para-Flite MT-1XX
(1670-01-212-3335), Ram Air Parachute (RAPS) Para-Flite MC-4 (1670-01-306-2100)
and the Convertible Static Line Para-Flite MT-1XX S/L systems. By integrating
key components of these in-service parachutes into one versatile parachute
system, Para-Flite has again introduced a new concept to advance the HAHO and
HALO tactical use of military personnel parachutes. The upgraded reinforced
spanwise-constructed 370 sq. ft. 'X' canopy is used both as a main and reserve.
These identical and interchangeable canopies reduce the logistics of having
separate main and reserve canopies, and reduce the cost and complexity of
training, maintenance and operational use of a different size/configuration
reserve canopy.
