Student
Javelin Odyssey
Experience the
Javelin!
A dependable, comfortable and user friendly rig requiring less
"transition" from student gear to personal gear. Our philosophy
has been to take the standard Javelin harness/container system and change it as
little as possible to make it a student rig. The student looks and
feels more like a skydiver, right from the very first jump. Now the
instructor has all options available in one harness/container system.
The STUDENT JAVELIN
Odyssey features a tough, double-layer cordura main container, adjustable main lift webs
and deluxe legpads. Safety features include a reserve Static Line
(Standard on all Javelins), a left side AFF main deployment handle and a color
coded system for easily changing from freefall to direct bag configurations.
All Javelins come to you Cypres ready at no extra charge.
Our student rig is easily
interchangeable between static line, ripcord and throwout pilotchute
deployments. Any of these configurations can be chosen without the need to
remove the main D-bag from the container. A color coded system helps
insure that if the direct bag is used, there is no possibility of assembling the
system so that the static line would damage the top of the main canopy.

NOTES FOR USING THE STUDENT
JAVELIN
1) All main canopies packed
into the STUDENT JAVELIN must have the 7" red loop attached to the top
of the canopy by looping it onto the bridle attachment point. This loop
should be passed up through the grommet in the top of the bag each time the
canopy is packed. When the rig is used in the Free-fall configuration, this
loop is hooked to the connector link on the bridle of either the hand-deploy
or the Spring-loaded pilotchute. The connector link always stays with the
bridle. NEVER leave it on the main canopy top loop.
2) When rigging the main
canopy for Static Line deployment, first remove the Free-fall pilotchute
from the red to loop of the main canopy. Be sure the connector link stays
with the bridle, not with the top loop. Then attach the YELLOW static line
to the YELLOW tapes on the top of the bag by looping the static line through
itself. NEVER attach the yellow static line to any loops of another color,
always only yellow to yellow.
3) To close the main
container when rigging for Static Line, use the normal closing loop and
close the main container with the plastic coated cables attached to the
static line. Next stow the static line in rubber bands on the side flaps of
the main container. (These rubber bands should be maintained in good
condition and double-wrapped when stowing the static line to prevent
'blowout' of the main container closure if the student is on the step before
exit). The static line snap should then be tucked into the pocket on the
center of the main pin cover.
4) To rig the STUDENT JAVELIN
for AFF, use the spring-loaded pilotchute and the plastic coated ripcord.
Insert the ripcord into its housing and close the main container flaps in
this order: bottom, top, left, right. Before closing the container, pass the
ripcord cable through the small loop in the end of the Left Side AFF Handle.
Now close the main container with the ripcord and stow the excess length of
cable in the channel provided inside the main side flap.
The main bag is equipped with
a stiffener panel in the front that should always be on top when the main is
packed. This panel is a launching plate for the spring from burrowing into
the main bag.
